The summer project for the month of July 2014 which was designed, engineered, and built by me was this patio on the perimeter of Mill Creek park in Youngstown, Ohio. I was assisted by a friend. The total project required the manipulation of over Forty tons of materials. The concept for the design was to create a fluid space which invited an individual to relax and enjoy the comforts of a patio while experiencing the beauty of the park. The intent of an organic and fluid design was to minimize the separation of the outside living space and the woods while simultaneously attracting the inhabitant into the woods either visually or physically.
Specific materials were chosen to highlight sensuous organic curves, hard edges, and shifts in topography. The visual ques are both functional guides and formal enhancements.
